Railroad Journey into the Past – Model Trains and Photo Art at Peißenberg Station

In mid-September, there will be exciting events all about railroads all over Germany for the 2nd edition of “Rail Day”. There’s something for everyone, from railroad romance to art and culture to technology and a look behind the scenes. And in Peißenberg, it’s all in one event.

If the local train station is owned by the model train club, and the resident photo artist only shoots from trains, then a collaboration is almost bound to happen, right?

In any case, I’m really looking forward to the event. Here is the official announcement – more info will follow here or on Instagram.
I’m looking forward to seeing you guys!

On Rail Day in Peißenberg, you will experience a fascinating combination of technology and art. The Model Railway Club Pfaffenwinkel e.V. invites you to an extraordinary event in cooperation with the local photo artist Jennifer Scales.

On 16.09.23 the old train station in Peißenberg opens its doors to visitors. Immerse yourself in the world of model trains and marvel at the impressive 100sqm model railroad layout, which depicts the rail traffic between Weilheim and Peißenberg in 1968 in great detail. The Model Railway Club is also celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special focus on train traffic from 40 years ago.

In addition to the fascinating model railroad landscape, an art exhibition awaits you in the former waiting room and dispatcher’s quarters. Here, Jennifer Scales presents her works, which use slow shutter speeds and purposeful camera movement to capture the special beauty of rail travel. Immerse yourself in a world of landscapes in motion and be awed by the impressionistic photographs.

The exhibition includes images taken along the route (Schongau-Augsburg) and therefore likely to be familiar to commuters, as well as train views from throughout Europe. Since 2021, the photographer has traveled to over 20 countries by train, with the starting and ending point of the journey always being Peißenberg station.

The station itself is also open for visitors to explore: a member of the Model Railway Club will present the old signal box and give you exciting insights into the activities of a train dispatcher of yesteryear.

Look forward to a day full of technology, history, and art. Visit us on 16.09.23 from 17:00 at the station Peißenberg for art lovers and technology fans alike.
